About The BPAL
The Biochemical Pharmacology Analytical Laboratory (BPAL) is an analytical pharmacology laboratory, expert at small molecule measurement. The lab is directed by Dr. Brett Ginsburg, Professor in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. We are expert in measurement of drugs and biomarkers in tissues and drug formulations. We have performed studies supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIAAA, NIA, NIDA, NCI), the Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, Industrial sponsors, and individual investigators. The laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the art Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography with tandem Mass Spectrometry (HPLC/MS/MS), HPLC with ultraviolet detection (HPLC/UV), Gas Chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID), and plate readers for quantitative Enzyme-Linked Immunoassay (ELISA). The lab has been in operation for over 35 years and follows GLP standards of operation. Four technicians with decades of cumulative analytical experience perform lab operations. The lab is involved in training students and post-doctoral fellows through the Graduate School of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, a T32 postdoctoral training program in addiction science, as well as other undergraduate research opportunities.
